Clickbank: What is Gravity?

What to Look For When it Comes to Promoting ClickBank Products

If you’re searching for a product to promote on Clickbank then you have likely seen a statistic that they use called gravity. This is an often  misunderstood statistic, but once you understand the definition of gravity it won’t be that difficult.

   What is Gravity?

Well, to put it simply, gravity is a weighted number of affiliates who have sold one or more products over the last 12 weeks, with the most recent sales given more weight than those made 12 weeks ago.

Gravity doesn’t actually tell you how much money has been make by the  product or what percentage it’s converting at. Gravity only counts the first sale each affiliate has made, so it isn’t really a exact indicator of the profitability of trying to promote the product. On the other hand, if the product has a really high gravity score, it’s probably because people are successfully selling it.

The Pros and Cons of Promoting A High Gravity Product

If a lot people are promoting a particular product, and are makingsales, then there is a good chance that it’s converting well. Most peoplearen’t going to keep promoting a product that doesn’t make them very muchmoney.

One thing you need to watch out for is if a product has high gravity only because it just launched. Many marketers will get affiliates to push their product heavily when it first launches. That will give the product a very high gravity when it starts out.

Even if you know that a high gravity product is making its affiliates a lot of money, there could be downside to promoting a really high gravity product. If the product has too many affiliates promoting it, that could mean that you’re going to be competing with all those people for traffic. It might prove difficult to break into a niche with a  product that has a super high gravity.

The Pros and Cons of Promoting A Low Gravity Product

A lot of times, it can be worth your while to promote a low gravity product. If a product has a gravity of only 10-20 then that still means they’ve made a pretty decent amount of sales in the past few weeks.

Many people who sell products on Clickbank aren’t the best at marketing those products. Even though they have a great product in a great niche they might be doing a poor job of getting affiliates to promote it for them.    If you can find a product like that it is quite possible to totally dominate that niche and sell the heck out of a really good, but virtually unknown product.
